School Gardens, Farm to School

Seeds of Solidarity promotes local food and healthy communities
We:
  • partner to cultivate gardens and greenhouses with seven schools
  • link local farmers with schools in order to "put a face on food"
  • support schools in buying local farm products for cafeteria use
  • provide courses and workshops for teachers
  • mentor college interns as garden/nutrition educators
  • offer gardening and cooking activities at area summer camps and programs
  • support composting and recycling efforts at schools and events
See our newsletters for stories of these programs and partnerships.

It is so much cooler to eat something after you’ve helped it grow,
it makes me want to eat more of them. I've been trying a lot of new foods that I never had before.
