Cultivating Healthy Communities

Seeds of Solidarity is promoting local food self reliance
in our low-income region while reducing reliance on fossil fuels by:

  • implementing gardens and season extending greenhouses at six schools
  • linking local farmers and chefs with schools in order to “put a face on food”
  • supporting schools in buying local farm products for school lunches
  • disseminating a local food, local energy curriculum tool kit to teachers
  • training teens and college students in food system activism
  • bringing the SOL Patrol to schools, farmers markets,
    festivals and conferences
  • creating a video of the whole thing.

Cultivating Healthy Communities is made possible through a USDA Community Food Projects. Grant.Project partners includes CISA (Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture), Antioch NE Environmental Studies, The Peoples Pint Restaurant, Pioneer Valley Growers Association, Athol Orange Community Television and our local schools and farmers.
